  5. Now, you must decide how the link will look that you will use to point to your balloon, that potential visitors will see or type into the browser. You have three choices:

    A. With a chosen subdomain , e.g. [yourproject].[yourdomain].[com]

    B. Without “www”, e.g. [yourdomain].[com]

    C. With “www”, e.g. [www.[yourdomain].[com]

We recommend that you choose either option A or option B.

If you choose option A:

  1. A. Adjust and enter [yourproject].[yourdomain].[com] in the domain field. Copy the “DNS Target” and configure your external domain provider to point to that target. To do that, log in to your external domain provider, find the appropriate domain, find a section like “manage domain” or “manage zone” and add a CNAME record via the “+” button” or “Add record” button (or similar). The three information that you need are

    Type : CNAME

Host/Domain : [yourproject].[yourdomain].[com] (you will either enter the entire string or just the [yourproject] part)

    TTL : 1h (recommended)

  2. A. Save and you are good to go.

  3. A. Once you have configured the DNS settings of your external domain provider, wait a few minutes for the settings to propagate and then click “check status” on Balloonary.

Please be aware that it can take up to several hours for your new settings to propagate!

If in doubt use Google or contact your provider to get more information. . Look for the “+” button” or “Add record” button (or similar) to add the ALIAS (APEX ALIAS) record.

The three information that you need are

Type : ALIAS (APEX ALIAS) (or similar)

POINTS TO/SERVER NAME : [yourdomain].[com] (sometimes you need to enter a “.” at the end of the server name if the server is outside of the concerned domain. For example: “[yourdomain].[com].”)

    TTL : 1h (recommended)

  2. B. Save and you are good to go.

  3. B. Once you have configured the DNS settings of your external domain provider, wait a few minutes for the settings to propagate and then click “check status” on Balloonary.

  4. You should now see three green checkmarks. “Domain valid”, “Domain connected” and “SSL certificate valid”.

If you don’t, please check again soon. Propagation of DNS settings can take up to several hours.
If even after 24 hours you don’t see those two checkmarks, please make sure you correctly configured your external domain provider and reach out to your support team.

Happy ballooneering!
